East Tennessee Chinese New Year Festival

This large, family-friendly variety show is held annually in late January - early February during the Chinese New Year and brings together many local Chinese organizations for an afternoon of singing, dance, martial arts, and other performances to celebrate the coming of Spring! In past years, we have had professional musicians, dancers, and singers dazzle our audience, complemented by a wide variety of talented local performers.

Our upcoming Festival will be held on Sunday, February 25, 2024 at 3:30pm in Cox Auditorium on the University of Tennessee Knoxville Campus. Our Special Guest this year will be singer/songwriter/pianist Vivian Fang Liu from New York City (shown above), who will dazzle our audience with her talents! Our event will also include a traditional Chinese Dragon Dance, as well as Chinese dancing, singing, martial arts, and more.

Program

Our Special Guest this year will be highly regarded singer/songwriter/pianist Vivian Fang Liu from New York City. Having performed at prestigious venues worldwide -- including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, the GRAMMY Museum, St. John Smith Hall (London), and Mozart Hall (Vienna), her exceptional artistry has led her to be a special guest performer among renowned artists from Asia touring the US and to perform at MLB and WNBA games. To perform with her, Vivian will bring a number of young students with her, which should truly be an inspiration to all aspiring young performers in East Tennessee!

Our 2024 Year of the Dragon Festival will also feature a traditional Dragon dance from Wah Lum Kung Fu, and a variety of dance, singing, and martial arts performances. Our lovely hostesses this year will be Dr. Rachel Rui (UTK), Dr. Athena Chen (ORNL), and Elena Wu. We sincerely hope you can join us for the fun, and to welcome Spring and the Year of the Dragon with our exciting variety show!
